Fluency’s Lead Consultant Georgie Wong discusses her love for finding patterns in data, fitness and travel!
“I love finding the all-important patterns, trends and ‘gems’ of insights that will make a difference for clients”.
What is your role at Fluency?
I am a Lead Consultant at Fluency – specialising in analytical data storytelling and helping our clients make effective decisions. I spend time with our clients understanding their challenges, then design and deliver end-to-end diverse data research projects with the help of our sophisticated in-house AI and data sciences team, and Fluency’s data stack. I love finding the all-important patterns, trends and ‘gems’ of insights that will make a difference for clients.
What inspired you to get into data?
I studied geography at university, and I’ve always had a curiosity for how the world works and why groups behave differently. Data appealed to me as it provides an expansive, structured, and robust way for us to unpack these questions. This, paired with my interest in marketing meant that when the opportunity to work in a data team in a large comms group came up, I jumped at the chance!
What are some of your favourite things about working at Fluency?
I’ve been part of the M&C Saatchi Group for a long time, and helped to found Fluency. I’ve had the privilege of working in London, Singapore, Sydney, and Kuala Lumpur offices, making unforgettable memories and taking in some incredible experiences. There is so much wonderful talent around our network and it’s been so much fun to immerse myself in the many cultures and customs of each location.
I also really enjoy getting to work closely with some of the most intelligent minds in the industry – be that collaborating with our blue-chip clients to define their business questions, or building innovative creative solutions with Fluency’s in-house data science team, or expanding my knowledge base through M&C Saatchi Group seminars and events. This group offers fantastic opportunity to grow and I can honestly say, working at Fluency I learn something new every day.
What clients do you work on?
I work on a huge range of clients at Fluency out of APAC – from FMCG and Fintech, to Sports and E-Commerce, and Pharmaceutical clients. In truth, there are few categories that I don’t have some experience in, and it’s awesome being able to cross-pollinate learning and best practices.
What are you working on currently?
Every day at Fluency is different, but some of the exciting projects I have worked on recently include helping a publishing client to build more relevant and resonant communications campaigns to target minority groups in the UK, building a metaverse market sizing tool to help a global sports brand build a business case for investment, and helping identify the hottest fitness studios and most inspiring instructors across cities in Europe, Asia and Central America to inform a leading fitness brand’s ambassador targeting strategy. All very different, but all have benefited massively from true data fluency.
It can’t all be data? What do you enjoy out of work?
I love to stay active! I can often be found dancing, running, going on walks or hitting the gym. I also love to travel; I’ve just come back from China and I’m carving out more adventures for this year. I can’t wait!
